I have a profile with with the email id [email protected] I made a privacy settings in my profile which is " Make my public profile visible to no one'. This privacy settings is provided to users if they do not want their profile to be searched on web ( like google search etc). I made this setting in my profile because I strictly didnt wanted my professional details to be google searched by anyone I dont know as I want my data and details to be kept private. However, after doing this setting on my linkedin profile, I searched my name in google and to my utter shock my profile was still visible on google search. I immediately contacted linkedin customer services on 11 Decemeber 2016, though their website, and i received an email from their customer service assuring that my profile is now not in google search, I rechecked and yes it was not found in google. Now, yesterday randomly I again made a search on google and i was again shocked that my profile is again made visibel ( Please see the attached screenshot ). I contacted them again however this time I received a strange response stating that even after putting the privacy settings in my linkedin profile, its google who is not deleting, seriously?? I have same setting with Facebook and my FB profiles is never in google search. I requested linkedin repeatedly to remove my details from google search but they were unaffected and has sent me lame explanations. Please see the email trail from them. They also lied in third email that when clicked on my profile in google search, my profile is not found. but that incorrect its still found in google search. I request you to please look into the matter, as I feel its completely unethical to display my data in google even after my disapproval, this is breach of my data security from the company. Its linkedin's responsibility to secure my data and hence they have given that option to hide it from google but now they are blaming google for that. Please help me as I strictly dont want my professional and educational details to be found in a click by anyone. EMAILS RECEIVED FROM LINKEDIN : --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: LinkedIn Customer Support Date: Sun, Dec 18, 2016 at 9:42 PM Subject: Profile visibility issues [Case: 161217-000465] To: [email protected] Hi Neha, My name is Nick and I'll be more than happy to assist. When your public profile is disabled, it still may take time for Google to update their cached information on their servers. We don't have control over how long it takes for information to be removed from their system. They update their information regularly but can still take time before information changes actually occur. If you're needing the issue to be resolved promptly, you'll need to contact Google directly. I've attached a link to a Google forum that other members have found useful in removing information from Google's search results, in case you need it. I hope this helps! We do not have the capability to remove the profile immediately from Google's search results. The settings in which you see on your account is all that we have and we have no control over how long the information may be cached for on their system. It's definitely not that I don't wish to help but there isn't a way to have the information removed immediately. Regards, Nick Customer Support Representative ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: LinkedIn Customer Support Date: Sun, Dec 18, 2016 at 10:22 PM Subject: Profile visibility issues [Case: 161217-000465] To: [email protected] Hi Neha, Your public profile settings are set to private, I acknowledged this in my first correspondence to you which is why I provided the information that if you're still seeing your profile visable, even after adjusting the proper settings, then it may be a information cache issue on the search results that can take time to update, and no I cannot provide an exact time frame on how long at times it may take. When you're searched on Google's search engine, yes, we can still see the cached information on their platform, I'm not disagreeing with this fact at all. Below is the screenshot to prove I understand what you're stating. but when you're profile is clicked on from Google's search engine, this is what other people see because the LinkedIn settings have been adjusted properly to make your profile private. Because the LinkedIn settings have been adjusted properly, your public profile doesn't show to others. This is again, why I've stated that the information still showing on their search results cannot be removed by LinkedIn. We allow you the ability to adjust your privacy settings but any information cached on the Internet, specifically in search engines, again, cannot be immediately controlled by us. The last thing I want to do is make the situation difficult for you in any way and I do want the ability to have that information removed immediately, but I don't have that capability. Your settings have been adjusted properly and your public information is now being kept private as the screenshots show above. Regards, Nick Customer Support Representative
